UltimateOutsider wrote:Hi, I don't understand what this thread is about; is this to track older versions of the MOTU drivers than the ones available from the official site? I'm looking into this because when my new 500GB arrives I'm going to be installing both Win 7 32-bit and 64-bit in separate partitions, and I want to be sure I've got the most stable 32/64 drivers for my UltraLite MK3 and micro lite.
MOTU hasn't announced Windows 7 compatibility yet.

Please please help!!

I have the same problem with an old 828 Firewire interface. I'm trying to install drivers from the MOTU web site on win vista home premium 64

Same symptoms:

Downloaded the new 64 bit drivers for windows, but it won't run!
Crashes while installing, then leaves all the folders and such there and won't finish.

Here's the exact installation error:

This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package.

Also - Uninstalling it yields this error message:

Error 1721. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.Action: RemoveSetupDrivers. location: C\Program Files (x86)\motu\audio\SetupFWinstaller64.exe. command/remove audio drivers

Microsoft support tells me to contact the manufacturer. (not their problem)

I went to the c: drive location above - removed the named exe, attempted to uninstall again = same uninstall error. Attempted to reinstall = same install error.

So now I'm totally screwed as bought my 828 used, don't have a serial # to register on the MOTU site, and thus cannot even contact them for support apparently.

Any help is appreciated.

Do you have User Account Control enabled on Vista? If you do, you need to turn it off. (UAC is the thing that dims out your screen and prompts you any time you try to install software or run administrative programs on your PC. It will silently break sub-processes that many installers run if it's enabled, even if you give permission at the initial prompt... it has to do with how the various installers are designed.)

You disable User Account Control in the Users control panel. You need to restart Windows after turning it off.

Also, I recommend cleaning out your temp folders as well. CCleaner's an easy way to do this.

From your description, you MIGHT have a corrupted install on your hands at the moment, too. If after disabling UAC and cleaning out your temps, you still have failure, you might have to take more drastic measures to clean off the corrupted install.

The file that you downloaded from motu.com is a ZIP archive file. You must extract the installer program and its data file from the ZIP archive before you start the installer. If you don't, it will fail with the first error message you mentioned.

I really thank this forum idea... Do think it should be more about posting some older drivers, as that is the purpose of it. the way i see it, motu drivers is such a complex issue that having older drivers might just solve many of the strange problems that come up, or at least keeps us entertained believing there is hope for a little longer...
i ve been trying to find old drivers for my 828 original and i was in despair...since i instaled the latest one ti works for 5 m, then it stops sound, and leaves my pc in a poor state... really slow
gonna try the only driver posted here so far and see if it gets my old baby running...

Does anyone have the 1.0 or 1.10 downgrade intaller for pc?
I stupidly tried to upgrade my ultralite from 1.0 to 1.15 and now the unit's cpu is not valid. :(

Thanks,
Tomer.

I had my 828mk2 for about 4 years now, always running on Windows XP. I recently bought Native Instruments Machine, and it couldn't detect the ASIO driver, so I foolishly installed the 3.6.7.4 driver, which totally stopped it working altogether. The link above for the 3.6.7.3 driver downloads a file which won't run on Windows XP 32-bit for some reason, and I can't find that version anywhere.

I got a new computer yesterday with Windows 7 64-bit... Of course the MOTU drivers don't work whatsoever, so overall this thing is junk. I bought an m-audio interface, installed the latest drivers, and it just works.

MOTU really blows the big one if you own a PC! If anyone wants to buy a 'full working order', bar Windows driver support, 828Mk2 I'll sell for £200 - I'm in the UK.

Here is the 3.6.8.1394 Firewire (& USB?) driver for XP 32bit.

What was the last Vista32 driver before 4.0.4.2546?
Can anyone post a link please?

I never had problems with latency in XP, but since switching to Vista & the 4.0.4 driver...It works, but the buffer has to be set at 1024 giving 24ms in & 47ms out latency. In XP (same hardware setup) I was always able to run the buffer at 256 w/in-out latencies of 6/11ms. I guess I'll probably just switch back to my XP partition.
MOTU 828mkII, MOTU 8PRE, Cubase Elements 7, Win7 64bit, Yamaha Motif ES8, Virus TI, Casio Privia PX-350M.

I think you're violating your license agreement with MOTU by redistributing their software.

Hi all,

After my trials and tribulations in getting my new 828mk3 working on Windows, I have constructed a concise list and links to all of all the driver versions I am aware of. Some of these were found on forum posts, some were not. I believe these are the only drivers to currently be available on Motu's website.

Note that this list presently only includes drivers that work with the 828mk3. Older drivers in the 3.6.7 series are not included here yet.

Hope this is of help in getting the most from your Unicorn :)

Hi everyone, I am new in this forum!
I would just kindly ask if anyone got a driver version older than 32pci-1.6.9.5.zip [for a pci-424 running on a xp-32(sp3) system].
Wondering why the motu site doesnt keep track of old drivers...they could always be useful!
I actually have problems with the new one, having some random gaps while recording under cubase 5.
It did work well with older drivers though, but I seem to have lost the original cd...any help would be very appreciated ! Thank you !!!
