MOTU 828 (original) and 64bit OS

Post by Mr. Ease »

Hi Folks,

I'm new around here and I'm trying to find out if there are any MOTU drivers that will support the original 828 with Vista X64 or Windows7 X64.

Any help would be appreciated as I do not really want the added cost of a new interface.

Thanks in advance!

I have used an original 828 under 64-bit Vista with the newest driver version that's available on motu.com. MOTU hasn't announced Windows 7 compatibility yet, so I wouldn't count on it until they've made some kind of official announcement.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

That's great news! I had read elsewhere that the latest drivers did not support the original....

If it's working with Vista, I understand that the driver models have not changed for Windows 7. Looks like I won't be needing a new interface after all. What will I do with my GAS now??? Guess the bank manager will be happy though.

Edit: Sorry I completely forgot to add my sincere thanks for posting that.

Hello I've have the fw3.6.8.1410 drivers working on Win 7 x64 with the 828 mk2 fw. The 3.6.8.1414 won't install correctly. So you might wanna try give those a try. Hope that helps any.

That's a good thing to consider. I have downloaded several versions of the 64bit drivers in preparation for my transit to Win 7. Now I know that these drivers seem to support the old original 828, I think I have the best chance I can for success. Thanks for the report!

I just upgraded a 32-bit Vista Ultimate system to the 64-bit Windows 7 version (OEM versions have been released to education vendors) and have had no luck with the current 64-bit drivers. They install and the interface shows up in Windows, but no audio passes.

Anyone seen this before? The 828 (original flavor) works with my other 32-bit systems. All have TI FW chipsets.

Any suggestions to a fix (I know, wait until MOTU announces Windows 7 support. ;^> )?

Bruce
