And yet another CD mixed and mastered in DP

Post by airtime »

Here's a tune from a recently completed CD that was mixed and mastered in DP5 in my studio, but mostly recorded elsewhere using MOTU's Audio Desk through an original MOTU 828. The Audio Desk files opened directly in DP with no problems at all. This is an MP3 I made of this tune, more tunes can be heard at www.virb.com/fernwood as well as information about the musicians and the music.

I like this music very very much. It has the qualities I like about Exotica Jazz like Gabor Szabo and Bill Plummer. I would like to know more about the way you recorded it. The hungarian waltz has melodica, is it a Hohner? Did you use a ribbon mike on it? I can see how you get soundtrack work with this great atmospheric work. Thank you - I••™m a fan!

Hi Kawentzmann,

Thanks for listening. It was an interesting project, and there's more to be done with these musicians. The melodica you noticed is actually an Indian harmonium, you can see it at http://www.buckinghammusic.com/harmonium/harmonium.html

All the microphones were condenser mics, and most of the recording was done at the artists' homes with either an MXL large diameter capsule mic or a pair of Audio Technica AT 4033s. Some overdubbing was done at my place with an AKG 460, AT 4055, Red capsule on Oktava MK-012 body, or a custom built very small diameter electret condenser mic.

Thank you for your comments.
