Wow, you're good! He didn't even say what version of DP he was using! Is it the same page on the PDF version of the manual? My bad dog screen saver ate my PDF and the real manual is being used to hold the door open. I'd check it, but the door would close and I lost the key.Dwetmaster wrote:Manual P.9 and P.18
(You thought I was going to say I lost the manual, didn't you...?)

I thought that when U bought a copy of DP motu downloaded the manual direct to your brain and my internal brain hard drive got corrupted and the hard copy was destroyed by the fire gremlins and the cat ate my PDF version........

Do you know the old joke... men only have enough blood to operate their brain OR their PDF, but never both at the same time. Well, I'll opt for my drive hard every time... BRB, have to go Pee-DF...kassonica wrote:I thought that when U bought a copy of DP motu downloaded the manual direct to your brain and my internal brain hard drive got corrupted and the hard copy was destroyed by the fire gremlins and the cat ate my PDF version........

You forgot to mention, Magilla, that it's also on page 19 of the PDF... oh, that's right - your desktop dog ate it. Fair enough.
As Yothu Yindi famously said, "Pee-dee-ef.... pee-dee-ef...."
Then there's that famous talk-box user, Pee-dee ef... ef... fRAMtone..."
Have we spooked the troll yet, Magilla?
Have we? Have we?

The question I would ask TheBObs is: can he define anywhereHow do you import a MIDI file in DP5.1?
I didn't find this anywhere

I'll bet he can't - the more accurately one defines locality, the less precise time stamping becomes.
Or something like that. This conundrum is a quantum reality.
We do seem to be jumping on these fellas in an ever-more-gungho fashion, IMHO.
One of these days (today?) it'll come back to bite us all in the Unicorn rump.
Still, it'd beat a face full of poo.

I'm usually pretty friendly with the newcomers but I answered three minutes after his post and never heard him back.

I wanted to see if the Index would help out in this situation. Not on its face. If you look under "MIDI" or "Importing" or "Exporting" or "Dragging" or "Files" there is nothing there to guide you directly to the answer. It would have been more user friendly for the manual to have an index listing for such a process. Actually, its quite a good catch to find the one sentence on Pg. 9 and the jump site to Pg 18 - without a specific reference in the index, finding that function would not be easy. Thus, I can understand the posing of the original question.
Especially because of the forgoing, a "thank you" is very much in order for Dwetmaster.
Bad form not to offer one.

I learned about importing MIDI files by just dragging one into DP to see what would happen.
But if I hadn't done that, what question would I have had to ask to be able to find the answer in the index? If I just look under "Importing" in the index ( I think the logical way to begin) I see nothing re: importing MIDI. Same thing with "MIDI"; ditto "Files" So where should my thinking take me next?
I ask because being able to access info is a critical skill in a program such as DP.
Thanks in advance.
