People using Motu and PC XP. Which DAW specs do you have?

Post by rynol »

Hello

Which DAW specs so you use with your Motu soundcard and PC, and not having problems with cracks and pops (i am using a unique IRQ TI FW card, XP SP2, latest drivers but still getting problems). But lets not discuss the problems, just post your DAW specs that works good with Motu devices (and don't forget the motherboards).

XP SP2, Gigabyte K8NS-Ultra 939 (Nforce3 250 ultra chipset) Opteron 165, 2 gig OCZ pc4000, 2x80g and 2x250G sata, mirror raid, NEC DVD burner, Matrox 550 w/dual 17" LCDs, TC powercore element PCI card. Sonar 6.2.1PE, also 7.0.2PE
Also works great with my Lenovo 3000 C200 notebook; intel core duo 2300, 2 x512 samsung pc5300, internal toshiba sata hdd, external toshiba 60gb usb hdd for audio, 945GM.

When I was using Win 2k I had to resort to 3rd party utililities to manage PCI latency timers.
828MkII w/BLA mod, Digi R1 control surface, Logic 8, Sonar 8.3PE , TC Powercore, Waldorf Edition, XP SP3, OS X Leopard, XILs, Stillwell Plugs

Hi,

I finally seem to have mine working perfectly. Specs are:

MOTU Ultralite

Windows XP SP2 via Bootcamp on a Santa Rosa chipset MacBook Pro 15". That's Intel Dual Core T7500 @ 2.2 Ghz. 2Gb RAM. Texas Instruments Firewire Controller. NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT display adapter. Atheros AR5008 WLAN adapter. Marvell Yukon 88E8058 ethernet adapter.

I also just posted details of the steps I had to take before it did work:

http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26284

Before taking these steps my Ultralite was useless.

Cheers,

Lenovo ThinkPad T400, 3GB RAM DDR3, 160GB 7200 HD System(internal), 320GB 7200 Glyph HD (externa via USB), MOTU UltraLite MK3, UA Solo 610, Tracktion 3, Express Card 2 port fw400 for Liquid Mix.

All the XP pro, web-searched optimizations. No internet, WiFi disabled, disable what is not necessary!
I had a bit of hiss and static at first, but it settled down and is very stable. (my quad, 3 HD, desktop still crashes with Tracktion 3) Sound is very good. My hardware sequencers monitor great with CueMix!! :D
