Trying to invent a new kind of muisc; electronic adventures

Post by zarmattathustra »

I'd be real interested in getting any feed back or hearing what anyone might think about this. It's free stuff: http://virb.com/mattsearles/music/albums/19812

I'm basically trying to invent a new kind of music, or travel in directions that are radically different from anything I've ever heard before.

So far I haven't really gotten too much feed back on it. Most of the people I show it to seem to like it.. There definitely something going on where a bunch of people seem to think it's the best thing they ever heard before.. and I think a lot of people just don't know what to make of it.

The thing is I haven't really gotten any feedback, to speak of, from people whom are serious about making music. So for one thing.. if you ask "well why do you think it's so great?" you get "It has a nice flow" or "I like the beat." So some articulate feedback would be amazing.

My feeling is... Well there's a lot I like about it, and a lot of areas that I'm critical of it. I do think it's at least interesting and highly original, and I'm hoping with a little studio upgrading I'll be able to bring it to a whole new level. But mostly I'm too close to it to have a lot of objectivity.

As a part of social media pr campaign I've been blogging about it: trying to articulate what I'm trying to do. I currently have about 3 posts on the above project which can be found here: http://mattsearles.com/podcast_blog/cat ... ndras-net/ At this point it's maybe a 101 of some of my mad ideas.
