output/driver issues in DP5

Post by jimmy mezz »

Hi--I just got DP 5 and I've run into a problem--when I open it, I get a message saying "audio driver not loaded, MIDI only." And of course I can't do anything with the audio tracks--greyed out, you can't change outputs. I just used it to record and everything was fine.

I'm using a MOTU 828 (first version) firewire and an Intel Mac Mini, but I'm just talking about using the built-in output from the Mac--I'm not using the 828. I just use the line out from the Mac into powered speakers.

Thanks if anyone can help--I'm sure this is something simple (for me, it usually is), I just can't figure it out.

Well, as long as you do have the drivers installed (you can check in Sys/Lib/Extenisons and look for the "MOTUPCIAudio.kext" file), it sounds as if DP has been set to "MIDI Only".

Look in the Setup menu (or whatever it's called) near the bottom and you'll find the options of running DP as AUDIO/MIDI only etc.

Are you sure Line Output is selected in "hardware setup" in DP? I'm not sure, but you may need to select an input as well.

DP5 audio driver issues solved (sort of)

Post by jimmy mezz »

Thanks for the tips, guys--I went in under "setup" and selected "MOTU audio system" and then selected an output under "configure driver," and now everything seems to be working. All things I have done before, but I guess they got undone somehow.

BUT...

something still seems fishy. Whenever I choose "configure driver" everything freezes up--you can't move anything with the mouse, thought you can select things in the driver box. I have to "force quit" to do anything after that. hmm...

Thanks again for the help!

Good news, Jimmy.

No idea what could be going on with the "Configure Driver" window... :?
