all cubase converts
Once you get used to working in dp you will not go back, you won't need all the little graphical cues and you will be greatly rewarded with speed, sound quality and most importantly.... Stability
The learning curve is a bit difficult but you will be greatly compansated.
Just had to say that...

It's a crazy contrast, really; I had a 9" monochrome monitor too.

Logical Editor?
What is the DP substitute for the Logical Editor in CubaseSX3?

Re: Logical Editor?
The 'search' function. Well it does the first step for you. Then you manually do the second step.digeorge wrote:What is the DP substitute for the Logical Editor in CubaseSX3?
Are we talking about the logical editor that's been in Cubase since the dawn of time? (it was on my Atari version and when I left Cubase at SX2.2 it hadn't changed one bit. in fact it was more bug-prone than on the atari)

Yeah, I imagine that's the one, Cliffo.
I actually made good use of that thing.
I'll bet Shooshie and many other 'Cornies would have loved it, as we're so "logical".

Well, I like it a lot. I am a guitar player which means I suck at playing keys. When I am done recording some MIDI part it usually needs a lot of editing quickly. I pull the Logical editor and start writing statements like "go and select all notes with velocity between 110-127" (ya know the ones my anxiety really came through) and "change their pitch to whatever". This is just a simple example.
The drum editor in Cubase is also awesome.
But Steinberg reminds me of Microsoft - a lot great ideas with very poor programming and implementation.

My fave feature was the simple I/O key remapping...
Dang. 5:00AM and I'm dreamin', but my eyes are still open.
G'night, 'Cornies.

DP's search will select events by quite a number of parameters, including their proximity to a grid that you prepare, selecting notes in one measure or all measure, or in a range of measures, etc. You can select velocity ranges, pitch ranges, grid ranges, event types, and more, plus combinations of all the above, and more options that I'd have a hard time remembering without opening it and documenting all of it. It's extremely powerful.digeorge wrote:Well, I like it a lot. I am a guitar player which means I suck at playing keys. Once you determine your search parameters, you can save and name that search for reuse later on. Then it's just a matter of clicking your saved search for instant results on even the most complicated search. Of course, what you decide to do with the events you've selected is your choice, and you may want to leave those events selected for multiple operations.
Quite an elaborate search engine, really.
