We have a MOTU MIDI express XT hooked up to our mac running logic 7. We are trying to hook up a USB fastlane connected to a PC running sounddiver to port 8 i/o on the XT, routed in Audio/MIDI setup to the z1 in out set up (thinking it would basically turn the ports into a thru). This doesn't seem to be the case. Anybody have any pointers/ideas?
thanks in advance

All you should need to do is add a new external device in the Audio MIDI setup. Name it PC or Sounddiver or whatever and connect the virtual cables to port 8. The mac will now see a MIDI device which it can send and receive MIDI from.
Your sequencer should be able to route MIDI to the other computer without problem. If you need to route the MIDI from a keyboard to the PC without any software assistance, select "Keyboard" on the front of the Express XT. That will send any MIDI signal received to all other MIDI OUT ports.
