Multiple Outputs for BFD

Post by waterstrum »

This is probably a "duh" question, but how do I use the multiple outs in BFD in DP5.1?

I did a search here and couldn't find the answer.

I also searched the BFD manual and couldn't find a specific DP reference.

Thanks

I dunno if BFD is the same or not as Guru in this respect, but if it is, use the Set-up page.

You will need to have separate bundles avaiable - what I do in Guru is send the outputs to stereo audio tracks, then I send those to an output bundle which goes to an aux track. That way I can control what is happening in the stereo pairs, and I can also do an overall drum-mix if I want to.

dunno how similiar BFD and Guru are tho. you might want to try FXpansion's forum over on KVRaudio.com
Cheers,
BK

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Use "bfd all" kits and in the manual it tells u how to route the outputs to dp. You will see the list of inputs in your input bundle menu in tracks window.

Go to fxpansion.com. They have template files for all the major audio apps including dp. The dp file has multiple i/o's already configured.

It's at the bottom of the BFD Support/Downloads page (login necessary).
I tried to load the DP 4.6 one a while back and it didn't work for me. I like the one I made anyway.

Just to clarify for other's who couldn't find it, once you get to the Downloads page you have to click on "BFD" updates and then it's on the bottom of that page.
Another thing to do template wise is, once you make a BFD setup you like, you can save it as a clipping and then just drap it into a new project assuming you don't always start with a BFD template.

Did that template work for you, Dave?

I just tried that file again and got the error message:

An error occured while reading from disk-file not loaded.

I think that's the same thing I got when I tried it a year ago.

Here's a shot of my BFD-ALL V-Rack.

Image

There are Aux Tracks for summing/grouping the two snare mics, the two kick mics, and all the Toms so I can process all in a group with one channel.
The V-rack faders can't be automated but I've got sub group faders/tracks that can be if needed.

Hey Tim,
Great looking template! I didn't try the bfd version yet, too busy. I usually only bus out the kick and snare just because if I want more realistic drums I'm usually recording real drums, but, you've inspired me! Wouldn't mind it if you emailed me your temp at dbw(at)dbwproductions.com if you want.

Being new to BFD and not having much time to play with it I download the template yesterday, did some recording with it just for testing purposes.
I have a question about the way the mixer works"template looks very similar to what Tim shows"
I can't seam to Isolate or solo any of the tracks.
Solo cuts everything and if I turn down all the faders except the Kick the snare bleeds though pretty bad,and the same Snare to Kick.
Like I said I haven't spent much time with it but if theres a simple explanation for whats happening I could use some advise.
I'm sure its just something I'm missing.

Mic bleed can be adjusted in BFD.

I've been using fxpansion's DP template for BFD for a few weeks now. It really does work great. I've added a few sub busses to it, so I can process sounds more to my liking. Short of that, it's cool.

Here's a temp of mine. There are some parts left over from a song I did, and it's BFD Kit, Mixer, and Program presets.
