This is probably more of a Music Business post, and if you poke around there, you'll discover that this has been discussed. But, to start off, one way is to network with editors, directors and producers. Do some pro bono work to get a foot in the door. And it will only help to familiarize yourself with the work of the scoring heavyweights. It'll help to possess musical diversity if you want to stay in for the long haul. The conventional wisdom used to be that you can't thrive if all you can do is dance techno. You may be called on to score a minuet. But now, there's an exponential explosion of video content being produced, and the opportunities are flourishing like no other time in history. There may emerge a place for specialists in Polka-Metal scores. Best of luck.
