I hope this hasn't been beaten to death, but I'm out of ideas.
I have a Tascam DM-24 using TDIF to a motu 2408 mkiii. I am using the DM-24 as a wordclock master, 2408 is the slave. All I get is static and it looks like it is still attempting to use TDIF as the sync source which I know will not work. I have set the clock rates to all be the same (48hkz) on the mixer, the 2408 and in cubase. I have switched everything around so that the DM24 is the slave, etc. Still persistent static.
Screen shots can be found here as well as a link to the relevant tascam forum. Any thoughts would be appreicated.
P.S. I bought my motu 2408 off ebay supposedly new, but I dont have a CD which contains the "Interactive Setup Wizard" I have looked everywhere, all I have is one CD with the Core driver files. Can this be downloaded?

Re: DM-24 > motu 2408 mkiii Sync issues
So I called MOTU and they said it was a DM-24 (Tascam) problem. I called Tascam and they said it was a problem with the firewire cable between the 2408 and the 424, even thought its only 3 foot long.
Anyone ever heard of the firewire cable causing static?

I doubt its the firewire(audiowire) cable but have you tried replacing your sync cable?

Yes, first thing I did. I've pretty much done everything now. Even using an external timepiece I get the same problem.
99% sure the 2408 is defective. What a bummer. Now I am concerned because I have had it for 6 months, but used it as an analog device up until now. This means likely that the sync never worked..

Re: DM-24 > motu 2408 mkiii Sync issues
Hi,
I had the same problem when trying to use the TDIF with my 2408mk3. I did not have that problem when using ADAT and a digi002r. I went ahead and changed my word clock cable and made the DM24 the master clock. After that everything was great. I do not agree that the sync on the 2408 didn't work as clock master but what hell, at least I can now use all 16 inputs onn my DM24 going into DP.

Get out the solder gun
I also have a DM-24 with a 2408 Mk2. I had sync issues after adding a Apogee Rosetta 200. My problems were corrected after I opened the 2408 and tightened the word clock connecter and re-soldered the broken connection. You might have the same issue so check your word clock connections and see if you can spin them with your finger. If they spin then you know what to do and make sure you do it in a well ventilated area.
