ARE YOU ABLE TO USE A USB LEAD INSTEAD OF THE FIREWIRE AS MY BUS SPEED ON MY SYSTEM ISNT AS FAST AS THE 896HD WHICH CAUSES ME TO HAVE CRACKS AND POPS IN MY AUDIO SIGNAL.
IM SURE IF THIS UNIT CAN RUN OFF THE USB THEN I WILL ERADICATE THIS ISSUE.

no, you can't use usb instead of firewire.
i'm not sure the logic behind your question makes sense...bus speed and swapping between usb and firewire doesn't make a difference.
are there other devices attached to the same firewire bus? remove all other firewire devices except the 896HD if there are.
how many streams are you recording at once? what speed is your hard drive spinning at? what system are you running? what software are you recording with?
