Unauthorized, completely illegal, DP 10 Logo contest

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

You can't win anything. Heck, I doubt anyone can even enter! I started drawing and painting about 16 months ago (don't laugh, I sold 6 works in the last two weeks). ANYWAY...

I showed a picture to a fellow 'corney,' and he suggested I send it to MOTU for consideration of their official logo. I am opting to get y'all's option about how bad you think it sucks... LOL

Seriously, if MagicD or another MOTUunian happens upon it and likes it, please do suggest it for consideration. It's like, music themed and all...

ps - I'll even give MOTU a discount for using just the top half of the image...

That's about a thousand miles away from a logo.

A logo has to look good real small and real big, reproduce in B&W legibly, use the corporate colors, work on letterhead, biz cards, packaging.....

Congrats on selling your paintings. But a logo requires a graphic artist.

I think you should title it "Unicorn Descending a Staircase no.3"

Thanks Jim. I always break the rules as an artist (musical and otherwise). Besides, I detest most logos created by those same graphic artists. My work here is just beginning. LOL :D

I like it!

I think it's really cool, actually inspiring, that you're exploring this other side of your inner artist.

What would the music version of your painting sound like? 8)
Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

That's really nice, Mike. I wish I could improvise like that!
I see you obviously dominate the Baroque style. Which style is your favourite or strongest for improv?

My absolute favourite of your paintings is the one that occurs at 1:48 - 1-:49 (the very faint face with the dark background) :headbang:

I don't dominate any particular style. I'm equally comfortable in pretty much anything but not such a big fan of simplistic pop music or country. I like to listen to some of it but don't find it sufficiently challenging musically. Sounds snobby. I guess it is.

I do love the Baroque but left to my own devices, I ultimately end up in Beethoven land. Lots of Mozart as well, and, of course, some Mortilla.

You might be interested in a few of the silent films I recently scored.

The 2nd and 3rd were done in one take with very little editing. I think Ciderville is closest to my inclination for free improv. It's one of my favorite scores in the entire set.
