Seems reasonable.

They didn't sneak it in to their products without telling anyone, and provide clear documentation of what they are doing, why they are doing it and how to opt out.

It will likely help them improve their products in a way that's not possible without years of support interactions, and they went about it in a very reasonable way.

I haven't downloaded it yet to verify, but according to NI you can switch it off.

What's the big deal? It can be disabled/enabled with a single click. At least they let the user choose.

It's not a big deal unless you choose to make it that way.

Don'tcha just let be it when other people try to tell you how to think and how secure your system, data, and access to that data is "no big deal?"

Like tracking in OS X, it has been disclosed and can be refused. That's what isn't a big deal. If using NI is a security threat, so is using OS X, or iOS, or Google, or going outdoors in the daylight, and so on.

I have no issue with it as long as it can be toggled off. Most software has that option now.

I prefer this to: "In Russia, Vladimir Putin watches you".

As someone who has been at the forefront of computer advances since my career began in 1981, I am usually the MOST skeptical of anything related to computer technology (especially software) as I don't trust the discipline of most software engineers, but I have already vetted the related OS X tracking with several experts and thus feel the NI tracking is safe. I enabled it myself.
