Oh, my "NI is watching you" authorization is only for their new installer app, as I was unsuccessful in installing the Kontakt 5.6 update. Not sure it's exactly the same setting, stored in the same place.

EDIT: Now that my Kontakt 5.6 update installed properly, it didn't ask me anything, so I think that saying once when I installed the beta of the new updater app did the deed for all NI products.

So aside from sending info to NI (or not) and the difficulty in updating, what advantage is there in updating?

I never thought about that. Good replacement for long term care insurance. I'm updating NOW!

1) It would be better if all products that “monitor”one’s system default to OFF.
(this way, users cannot be watched without approving such. Seems more constitutional to me).
2) I wonder if monitoring software like this, makes it easier for hackers to hack such software and thereafter hack user computers? If there is any increased risk of being hacked, then that is something to consider when assuming such software is “harmless”.
