Could we have a day without death, please? Please? I can't think of a year in my lifetime where more artists/musicians have passed than 2016, and the year is only half over.

Sad news for the Bay Area, indeed. Rob Wasserman was held in high regard.

I got the call last night. He and I spent many hours trying to rehabilitate my left arm and I considered him a friend. What a loss.

Re: RIP Rob Wasserman -- upright bassist in many genres
Mike, I'm sorry to hear that this is especially a personal loss for you. It does not surprise me that Rob helped you in your time of need.
I know I met him at some point, but can't remember the circumstances. He probably came by the office now and then, as Bob Weir does as well. I do know that Red Dog gave a few private performances at our company theatre.
Being in the Bay Area, I of course know a lot of people who knew him, were friends with him, and/or played with him professionally or just socially. I only heard great things about him as a person.
64 is too young. Not as young as SOME that we've lost this year, but still, too young. I am sure he still had plenty of music to give to the world.
