Sony Creative Suite handed over to Magix Software

Some of those Sony products (such as Vegas) were quite good, but Windows-only.

This smells like bad news overall though, given the mismatch between the companies and what it says about legacy software vs. software that has a future.

Also, it seems to be part of the general trend of professional software going by the wayside.

When one big player (e.g. Avid) starts to falter, the others tend to follow suit rather than grow, as usually it's a symptom that the market itself is drying up.

Luckily, MOTU have stayed up to date with OS's, are dual-platform now, and have a great integrated audio/video editing platform in DP, so hopefully the DP market will continue to grow regardless.

This is good news and helps to give an answer to questions that have been asked over on the Sony forums about them having given up on Acid and Sound Forge Mac. Long standing bugs and such not being fixed, you name it. Maybe this mess will get fixed and gives me hope that maybe they'll get SF Mac to the level of SF Windows and can a Mac version of Acid and Vegas be in the works?

Isn't this the company that laboured forever to port Samplitude to Mac, and gave up?

Just saw this link shared at the Samplitude forum. (I use both DP9 and Samplitude).

Seems to have a lot of good news. (I am not a Vegas user myself. Yet.)

I took a look at the Magix website and there are currently zero open positions in any fields at any of their offices.

So if they intend to get a Vegas release out by autumn, perhaps this means the Sony Creative Suite workforce is moving over as part and parcel of the product acquisition.
