Nice article, Michael, and great insight into your music for these silent films. Lunch will be delivered? Good luck.

It would be so cool if this was streaming live right now.

I saw Mike perform a couple of years ago when he was in town. I don't think I'd ever seen a silent film with live accompaniment, and it's not generally something I seek out; but I loved it. Not only were the films and music fun and interesting on their own terms, but it was also fascinating to imagine experiencing this when it was "state of the art" a hundred years ago.

Hi guys. It went pretty good. 3000 people attended over the course of 9 hours. I didn't even have to take one bathroom break! The curator was over the moon.

9 hours without a bathroom break? Geez, MLC, you deserve a medal just for THAT!MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Hi guys. It went pretty good. 3000 people attended over the course of 9 hours. I didn't even have to take one bathroom break! The curator was over the moon.
Shoosh
PS: Glad to hear it went well. I couldn't be there, but I thought of you. I was here at home, entertaining a pianist friend from NYC, and we played music for hours each day she was here. What fun!

Re: LACMARATHON (LA Times 1/15/2016)
hat sounds splendid, Shoosh. In the end (no pun intended) it really didn't seem like a stamina issue at all. I had a great audience to feed off of and a job to do. Listening to the recording in random places, I'm sometimes appalled at the sloppiness. Then I remember I was positioned over an air vent blowing cold air. My hands were freezing! I managed to cover the vent somewhat with a canvas bag, but it was still damn cold. I may post the opening few minutes on Facebook later in the week so those who contributed to my Indiegogo campaign can hear a little of what they were backing. I made good friends with the head curator of contemporary art. We lived in the same town on Long Island's north shore at about the same time and only about 5 or 5 blocks from each other and we're about the same age. I feel like a have a new home away from home at that museum now. Between that and the AMPAS, LA is finally starting to feel like my permanent home.
