Back in my day, we used tape, damn it! That's right, plain old Scotch tape. Magic™ Tape hadn't been invented yet and magnetic tape? Real engineers did without.

You drew the waveform on scotch tape with a quill?

I hacked it into granite. Durable, but S/N Ratio was poor.

We'd been making records for years when one day one got away from us and rolled down a hill and halfway up another. Someone got a bright idea. Turn two records on their sides, and use a long spindle in between, and you get... WHEELS! Boy, then we were cooking. Now we not only had records, but CARS. Things just got better and better when we discovered back seats. At last, women actually liked us. No longer had to use clubs and drag them off by the hair.

Yep, recording artists have been committed to making women's lives better since the very beginning of time. Jazz time, swing time, rock-n-roll time... And the beat goes on.

Ain't it the truth? It's always been about the ladies. To misquote a Paul Simon lyric, "We do it for their love."

Long live vinyl, tape, and wheels!
(and clubs; smoke-free, preferably)

Just sold a 6 space rack to a guy who uses Digital Performer here in Seattle. A rare but not unheard of occurrence. 8)
