Re: DSP Quattro Update

Post by mikes425 »

Hi, this is off-topic but i'm googling for answers and discovered this relatively recent thread with members who have used Peak 6 successfully in 10.8.5. Wonder if anybody can help because Steve/Soundness may or may not get back to me in time- I just replaced a Mac running Snow Leopard (very stable) with a newer Mini i5 2012 model running 10.8.5. --
I did a fresh install of a copy of Peak 6 because i had an install disk handy - I'm a beta tester for Peak 7 which i have on my other machines, but in this instance - i need to use Peak 6 because i can't have two copies of a"7" on the network running at the same time...(makes no sense for an unsupported product now but anyway...)

Question - When I go to record in this Peak 6.2.0 version, I am getting the Mac -43 Error message, file can't be found/creating temporary file. Something's preventing Peak from recording or the System from recognizing its files... never seen this before. Any clues as to how to get around this? At first i thought ok, Peak 6 just "doesn't work" in 10.8.5 but old threads here suggest you guys have used it on that system. Would appreciate any suggestion as to what might be going on/what to try - to resolve this... Otherwise forced to throw something like Audacity on this machine. I just use it as a back-up recorder when I'm doing sessions with Peak 7 on my Main Mac.

THANKS!

Mike

-43 is a file system error.

Check your target directory. It can mean anything from not having permissions to write, writing to an improperly formatted drive (fat32?) or CD or an actual media malfunction or hard drive failure.

Mostly, it means that you are trying to write to the install disk or your hard drive is failing.

Hi thanks. Looks like I got it. Steve said to deselect a folder and just make the Drive the primary scratch disk. Trashed prefs and did that and it is saving files to Documents folder now.

Hopefully that'll be the fix. Thanks !

Or sometimes it really is a file system error. Hope that it works.

Thanks Mike. It's a relatively new SSD so hopefully the scratch disk setting was all it was. Will see!

If a permissions issue I might need more advice but so far so good.

I did some mastering with the latest update last night, and it is way more reliable and performant now than before. Plug-ins load quicker, and don't crash like they were prone to with earlier revisions.
