Please, no Facebook or Twitter buttons... for the love of God! "Likes" might be cool 'though, IMHO.

For one thing, it's sometimes more practical to hit said button than to quote the post in question and type that you agree with it.

And +1 is the option at present. It does add to the post counts and extends the thread page count.

"+1" can only refer to the previously-posted idea or one that is obviously being discussed.

It cannot function as an indication that one agrees with an unrelated, or even a relevant comment made before the current focus.

"Like" allows one to express the sentiment anywhere along the thread's timeline. It can't be beaten in this regard.
