I'm all for taking things to extremes. But do I have enough time left in my entire life to audition 10,000 kick drums?

Put them on your player and listen while you wash dishes. Kicks are short. It'll probably only take about six hours.
M1 MBP; OS 12, FF800, DP 11.3, Kontakt 7, Reaktor 6, PC3K7, K2661S, iPad6, Godin XTSA, Two Ibanez 5 string basses (1 fretted, 1 fretless), FM3, SY-1000, etc.

Was it 7381 that sounded so tight?
Or was it 8371?

All kidding aside, one could examine the visual waveform and learn to "see" the right general shapes that might be good candidates. Other visual aids might also be useful in "seeing" dominant frequencies you're looking for.

The question is how are they sorted to begin with? For instance if they sampled 808 kicks for 300 variations then that cuts down on redundancy big time. It's a great price for sure.
M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.

At this rate, I should have my ultimate kit fully assembled and ready to record my first note when I'm about 217. Better keep taking my vitamins.

Suddenly I'm visualizing a whole new send-up of Whiplash VI, the movie.
