The "Viral" Colour-Confusion Thing

Post by monkey man »

Just curious as to what you guys see.

For me, it's white and gold, and I can't imagine how anyone could see black and blue. Apparently 50% of the population thinks otherwise. Sure, the white's tinged with blue, but I perceive that as a lighting-induced effect, namely that we're looking at the "shadow side":

If those who see black compare it with the leading title, "What colour is The Dress and why the confusion?", isn't there a marked difference between the two? How can there not be?

Are we looking at the same picture? I agree with MM. The white has a blue hue to it, but where's the black? Gold and white for me.

It is amazing. It's blue and black for me. I don't see a hint of white and gold. Surely someone could scan it with a colour meter? If you sample the picture, what's the RGB spec?

Has anyone had two people look at the same screen and see two different colours? My wife saw white on the TV yesterday, and blue on her iPad today.

Keep that up, FM, and you'll be seeing a lot more black & blue!

I think the black & blue camp are all candidates for musicology school. You know, people who can read music but can't hear it.

At least we can all agree on one thing: The people who see the dress as white are utterly, completely wrong.

Try the digital color meter, which indicates RGB values of approximately (103, 96, 88) for the gold area, and (115, 127, 165) for the blue tint area. How people are seeing black may have to do with color sensitivity.

I agree, anyone that sees a black and blue dress is either nuts or lying.

No matter where I have seen the dress (TV, desktop computer, iPad, Youtube) it is always white and gold.
I always have thought that at least half the world is mad, here is some proof.
Cheers,
BK

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

If you see black, I see RED! I'll grant you that the "white" looks blue in that light and the gold is more mustard, but black? Really? :mumble:
