Until I saw this demo video tonight, from the original description I had simply concluded it was another Ableton Live type controller, but in fact it draws its inspiration from stuff like the Hagen Continuum and the Eigenharp.
A bit pricey at $1600, but certainly a fair price for what it does.
Note that he uses SampleModeling's VI's for some of the demos.
The ones that impress me the most though, are the violin and lap steel. I can do winds/brass on a WX5, but this interface seems the best so far for strings and oddball stuff like lap steel.
Being in Berkeley, I occasionally get to see cutting-edge stuff at some of the university research labs that we collaborate with, but those controllers are primarily add-ons to real instruments and require you to know how to actually play a violin (e.g.). Great stuff, but this LinnStrument controller can reach more people potentially.
