$10,000 worth of gear???

Cheapskate! Two of my mics cost more than that!

I think a guitar player going to a gig could get by with 10k worth of gear.

Depends on the guitar - and the player.

My road kit is usually a Kurz PC2, small Mackie mixer (maybe) and a JBL 15" EON system (and the usual stands, etc). Mostly solo piano but I have played with a number of ensembles with essentially the same rig. The JBLs run around a grand and the Kurtz, at most, is about $3k. Add in stands for another $500 and you're coming in at about $5k. Maybe less. Heck, my MP transition just cost me about that much. Funny thing is, the MP is so light it's almost "portable." I'd certainly consider dragging it to an important gig. Yeah, that takes it up to $10k.

NOW can we get back off topic?

Damn it, Jim, I'm a moderator, not a doctor.
