If you have iPhone 6 or 6+ do NOT install IOS 8.01

Post by James Steele »

Just heard that if you have an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, you should NOT update to iOS 8.01. It breaks the cellular connection for some people and Touch ID. Earlier iPhones apparently are okay.

Can you imagine the reaction Steve Jobs would have had?!!

How did something this apparently simple get past basic testing?

I hear that for compensation they are offering a free Rick Astley album that will be automatically added to your iTunes library.

And on my iPad2 iOS 8 broke iMessage. Anyone else find that? Wonder if the update will fix it. Sure....

I never do updates without letting others find out the problems first..lol..what on earth was I thinking?

I'll tell you what bugs me. Somewhere around April 2014, the ability for iOS 6 devices to FaceTime with iOS 7 devices just plain broke. Something about a certificate or whatever. Worked perfectly fine before. I would think Apple could fix this, but seems like trying to kick people staying behind on older hardware (iPhone 4 in my case) into updating. As I said, worked fine until one day it just "broke."

He really is gone, isn't he. I'm convinced the place is being run by accountants.

Not a fan of the face time. One has to get dressed for such conversations. Awkward!

So, I was about to downgrade to 7.1.2 but just before I hit the "do it" button (I got scared...lol) I opened iMessage, just to see, and all the names/numbers which had previously been greyed out and unmessage-able were now available. As far as I know I didnt do anything.

Maybe the iPad got indignant at the idea of being downgraded and, in a huff, decided to work.
