First album release!

Post by sarc_zoe »

Hey folks!
I am Nicole, who used to work for Tech Support/Customer Service for MOTU.

I have been down in Orlando Florida for over a year helping to open up the brand new Harry Potter- Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando! (Working on projection, audio etc.)

In the meantime, I've also been pursuing music, including making my first album! A lot of great musicians and exciting credits on it. If you wouldn't mind taking a few moments to check it out and "Like" my Facebook Music Page, I would be SUPER grateful! This community of users has always been so nice to me :)

I LOVED the voice of the singer in The Nature of Heartache

So breathy and warm and nice 8)

Her timbre and expression reminds me of one of my favorites: Jane Monheit.

Well done, congratulations.
Big things ahead for you.
Cheers,

The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Yes, all songs are original songs on my CD.

(And yes, Magic D is on the bass for Underneath the Coconut Tree!) :D

He also contributed bass to this Ring of Fire cover I have on SoundCloud:

(Banjo and harmonica were played by Scott, MOTU's web design guru. Scott also contributed slide guitar and and banjo on the Will The Circle Be Unbroken cover)

Nicole,

I confess to having mixed emotions about whether to listen to your album. I liked you at MOTU, so I didn't want to listen to it and not know what to say. What if it was awful?

Finally, this morning gave it a good listen. Whoaaaa!!! I should have known that anyone who knows DP that well probably knows what they're doing with it, too.

In short, the album is excellent. Your singing is beautiful, moving, and darn-near perfect. (I'm not implying that I can find anything wrong with it; "darn-near" is just an expression.) I love the songs, too. Beautiful lyrics. Beautiful songs.

I hope someone with some marketing clout or label connections gets hold of this. Maybe you should consider going to one of those TV shows. I don't have a TV, so I can't tell you what they are, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Looking forward to hearing more of you on down the line.

I guess we're all assuming it was done on DP. Was it?

Shooshie,
You are somewhat of a legend at MOTU, so thank you very much for taking the time out to listen! I also appreciate all of the positive comments!

To answer your question: YES! Most of the raw material was mostly recorded and rough edited in DP.

The mix engineer who I brought into the project, Gary Paczosa (who mixed Allison Krauss, Dixie Chicks, & Nickel Creek among others) uses Cubase (which I was super sad to hear about, but he's pretty set in his ways obviously)-- so most of the mixing was done in Cubase.

BUT a lot of the raw stuff was done in DP. (Some bass tracks and drum tracks were also recorded in a friend's studio, who uses Pro Tools-- so really I guess what I'm saying is that we were trying to use as many DAWs as possible to get the job done.)
