RIP Charlie Haden

Haden is the reason I became a bassist.

An incredibly gracious person as well as possibly the most gifted and original bassist of the last fifty years. I am glad I got to meet him a few times, but shocked by his death. It is most unexpected, but he's also a bit older than I realized and others have passed at a younger age.

Not the reason I became a bassist but Charlie was one of the reasons I was glad to be one. I met him at a festival once. It was nice to talk bass with one of the best.

I've seen him live a few times and he was always great.
