B9 Organ Machine New Guitar Toy

This thing is so tempting I really shouldn't but I probably will.

Total world domination by guitar players is upon us.

Actually the video illustrates how keyboard technique is pretty hard to do well on a guitar, but it looks like a lot of fun.

I saw this. Why am I so ambivalent toward devices that attempt to make the guitar something it's not? I dunno. :)

Still, pretty cool technology considering it's not a MIDI guitar - assuming there's no additional device to attach to the guitar. Not my cup of teat either.

If your anything like its because I suck at keys but can play most stuff on guitar.

My take: weaksauce in the studio, but potentially useful live.

The one thing that bugged me is the bending of the strings and sliding. On my guitar synth I turn off the pitch bend and drop the 5th and 6th strings an octave lower to get a more realistic sound and better walking bass sound. On real organ the solo sound upper keyboard is set to a slightly different sound. That also bugged me. Nice idea if you want to expand a guitar trio. I could see becoming an organ donor. The tracking was nice. I would like to hear it with a click track to get a feel for, if there is, any latency.

There are covers on the keyboards. I would much rather play guitar.

I saw this a couple of weeks ago when it was announced, and thought, "Why?"

Then the obvious answer stared me in the face: they had done a Sitar pedal a few years ago that was a runaway hit, so why not continue in that vein?

I think live is the goal; not the studio. So I can see it would serve a practical purpose for a band that hasn't as full-time keyboardist and only uses organ on one or two songs.

Still, it begs the question, "What next?" EHX is innovative but puts out so many pedals it's almost like throwing darts at the board to see what sticks.

It would be as close to a sax as I'll ever get.

Anyone remember the GuitarOrgan?

This was the second version, an attempt to emulate the Hammond.

The Godwin was kind of interesting, actually
