Can't aurthorize DrumCore 3 on Mavericks - RESOLVED

Post by James Steele »

Well... I had a bad issue with my boot drive and had to refomat and reinstall some stuff. Now I suspect I've run into an issue where older apps/plugs that will authorize under earlier OS's will continue to work fine as you update the OS, but should ever need to reauthorize, you're in trouble.

Here's what happens when I try to authorize DrumCore 3 under Mavericks. Looks like the OS won't let it write the authorization file on the drive. My Home folder is on a different drive than the small SSD (120GB) I'm booting from.

This has been an issue going back to 2011 and, apparently, is a permissions issue. See if this fixes it:

Ha, I see we found the same thing.

Success! Well that was easier than I thought. Quickest post and self-resolution I can remember. I'll mark it "Resolved". :)

I'll just post the solution here in case others run up against this:
1. Go to: Hard Drive -> Library (NOT Username -> Library)

2. Right click(control click) on the Preferences folder.

3. Choose Get Info

4. Scroll to the bottom of the info window to the Sharing and
Permissions section.

5. Change "everyone" to Read & Write.

6. Launch DrumCore and try the registration process.

After the registration process has worked successfully you should go
and change the permissions back. I believe they are set to Read only
by default for "everyone"
