Except this weekend some of those waves are 19'. 40' further north and 60' in Hawaii. I don't know that Cargo stuff at all. Now Supercar is another story. :)

I never realized CC was in color... my folks had a B&W TV. For some reason, the propeller spin animation is my fondest recollection from that series.

We moved to LA in '69, and I never saw Clutch, Garfield or Mr. Thomas again. And, like today, I had to head to the mountains to see snow.

Okay. This is only for serious hardcore Chicago kids of a certain age.... and of other kids of a certain age who grew in markets in which this enterprise failed.

For me, it was Twinkles revving up his rotor tail--- speaking of spinning animations!!

Yes-- it was popular enough in the local market that General Mills made a cereal of it!!

Twinkles Cereal 60s Ad

Okay-- for those of you poised to not appreciate this, Twinkles was the result of all the cutbacks with Warner Brothers and Hanna-Barbera animation. Times got so bad that animations practically got down to 1 fps!!!!!! I'm only *almost* kidding.

Check it out!

This is either a most cherished bit of classic history or I've had a crap childhood.

SHUT UP!! LOL!

Mums the word on the childhood thing.

I experimented with a variety of controlled substances as a youth. Recollections of Twinkles are thus hazy, with a purple tint, at best.

Twinkies? That's all we could get for "dessert" in the school cafeteria, so twinkles went the way of hot dogs, something to loathe by association.

My passion shifted to Hostess Orange Cupcakes. Mmmm....

Okay. Okay. Okay. We just hAAAAAAAAADta go Hostess, didn't we?

Here's one for you participating youngsters:

Forget Twinkles. Let's talk TWINKIES--- back when they were BANANA flavored!!! They used real bananas back then but stopped because of things we shouldn't talk about on this forum. Suffice it to say, Twinkies went all vanilla and stayed there for decades.

Then-- for all you hardcore sugar-immune folks-- I dare you to remember Chocodiles. Those were chocolate-covered Twinkies.

O-ho-ho-my- gaw-haw-haw.................

[ROFL is one thing. I'm presently LMAO!! We need a proper emoticon for that... however graphic!]

I loved Hostess orange cupcakes back when I was totally immune to sugar. Made my insulin water. LOL!! But didn't the orange flavored ones appear quite a bit later? The chocolate fudge was a no-brainer back in early grade school, white cream filling and all. I was "awful". I'd eat all of the frosting with the white squiggly-wiggly first, then the rest of the cupcake. I was hell on a large package of Oreos.

NEVER PUT ME IN THE SAME ROOM WITH A BAG OF OREOS AND A GLASS OF MILK!!!!

(pleez don't... and it wouldn't take much milk)

I'm off sweets, including panacakes-- and am now 11" smaller around the waste and 70 lbs lighter. That doesn't mean I couldn't still eat the Cheesecake Factory into bankruptcy.

I remember the orange Twinkies from my second, less innocent, decade of life.

Gigantic img of Orange Cupcakes. Hey, they said is was bad to eat-- not bad to look at.

But you KNOW you want one for old times' sake!!!!

====

In fairness to our east coast friends---

You had Ring Dings, Yankee Doodles, and a bunch of other stuff named to make you laugh when reading the packet. It was always doodle-this or giggle-that before you took the first bite. Smart marketing!! Of course, the ingredients weren't listed back then, so there was no guilt trip.

====

So-- no matter where you're from, what was your favorite candy or snack cake, and what was your favorite animated cartoon or comic strip as a kid between age 5-10?

Inquiring hobbits wanna know!

What made you laugh back then? Seems like we can't laugh anymore without a keg of beer or a kilo of tofu. These days it's all Pikachu, Peg & Cat, and Mr. Pickles.

Bleah.

THIS preview clip of Pepe Le Pew alone has more laughs for me than any of the latest fodder.

Maybe it's because I'm not 11 any more?

Way, way, way, way, too funny. LOL.

When was the last time you've seen THIS?

There is another version with that James Bond-style guitar OD-ing on heavy tremolo, but that's the original version, afaik. LOL! Such memories. Makes me feel young again-- which is to say that it makes me aware of just how old I've become!!
