Wow! Such a brilliant mind and Alzheimer's! Scary stuff. Poor guy. He certainly made all our lives more... interesting.

I just did a gig with one of their top marketing guys this afternoon, and he mentioned how sad and difficult it was for everyone and for the family that he had to go through that the past few years. I met him a few years ago before Alzheimer's set in, and heard one of his excellent talks at AES. A very kind person, very focused and an excellent speaker. One of the true visionaries in the industry.
The news came as a shock to us (and my employer works closely with Dolby Labs at this point), even though it should have been expected. I think partly because it comes so close on the heels of Bose passing away.
