I'm cranky... Spread the word!

Post by James Steele »

There will be a new person joining in at a forum near you about how unfair I am and I don't care. This guy pops up tonight, brand new to the forum, and makes the infamous "Post #1" in the MachFive forum complaining that he's searched the board for information for a half hour to try and solve his issues about MachFive and all he's found is "MachFive sucks" and "Hmmm, it's working fine here." And how all he's seen is derision on those who have issues. He then says how he doesn't have a very high opinion of the level of discussion in the forum and certainly there are some articulate professional users who can respond to his query so the forum can redeem itself. That is "if his post makes it" implying his deletion.

THEN... He details CPU issues he's having with Pro Tools LE (RTAS has it's own issues) over several paragraphs and wants HELP, saying he'd live to be proven wrong and that he's judged MOTUNATION too harshly and this board can redeem itself in his eyes. At first I replied as usual, that nobody here gets paid to offer assistance and he could call MOTU tech support if what he found here isn't to his liking. Also dissing the board in your first post isn't the best way to get help either.

But you know... I said the he'll with it. I deleted this guy's smug, entitled, self-important ass right out of this board and my life. IP and email blocked him for good measure. I look forward to his whiny post at GS or whatever other board where he can join in with the others who moan about it when they come in here, open their Post 1 with a lecture about how disappointed they are with the board, as if their opinion is matters, and then offer us a chance to redeem ourselves.

Eat my shorts! Gone. Deleted. Blocked and no doubt coming to a GS topic any day now and I'm grateful. Spread the word near and far that if you come to this forum and barge in with an attitude, READ MY LIPS: I DON'T WANT OR NEED YOU HERE!!! It will save time for everyone.

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

James' stewardship is what keeps this board worthwhile, IMHO. Maybe he makes an occasional mistake (although, in this case, I doubt it). But God Bless him for doing it.

As someone who was a forum moderator (on many forums) in the distant past (pre-browser technology), I am aware of what a difficult job it is to be a moderator and keep a forum functioning, while also being fair.

James does a better job than any forum moderator I know of. I think most of us can deal with the occasional questionable deletion, knowing that improper policing of the board could result in it quickly being overrun by trolls.

Don't laugh - I was watching Travel Channel the other day and they had a program on the 'Greatest pig-outs in the US' and one place had these HUGE hamburgers - one was 16 pound (which has been eaten by 1 person who is not a competitive eater nor large of size), another was a 32 pounder and they were working on one that was 62 pounds! That last one takes 2 people to bring it out to the table.

At one time writing was in hieroglyphics and then came the alphabet; now the internet is bringing back hieroglyphics.
