Doesn't this page cover a lot of the same ground?
http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/ ... tures.html

That MOTU page covers virtually nothing with regards to technical specifications.
Maximum input as a standard level reference, and a stated impedance.
Maximum output as a standard level reference, and a stated impedance.
Distortion reference % with any declared bandwidth or frequency weightings, with a standard reference level. And 0 dB FS %.
Noise reference level with respect to 0 dB FS input or output with any declared bandwidth or frequency weightings. See here for more detail on this:

All pretty standard stuff that one wants to know when running a professional studio.

Dunno... but since this is a company policy thread and not an actual equipment usage sort of thead, I'm moving it.

Oh, it's absolutely an equipment usage issue! It's absolutely foolish to think it's not! It is certainly a reasonable discussion for users of MOTU hardware.

Well let's agree to disagree then. From my reading it appears to be a complaint that MOTU does not publish the specs for their hardware. That isn't a fix-it or a "help, my ____ isn't making sound" type of post, but a company policies criticism and I put those into the MOTU Theoretical, OT forum. Thanks.EMRR wrote:Oh, it's absolutely an equipment usage issue! It's absolutely foolish to think it's not! It is certainly a reasonable discussion for users of MOTU hardware.

P.S. I guess I'm absolutely foolish, then.
I'm not debating whether it would be important or not to have this information. I'm only telling you how I must try and keep some order with the subjects here to try and keep the categories somewhat useful and not clutter up multiple forums with "policy" discussion.

Sounds like a question to me; not necessarily a complaint. My tone is certainly more complaint oriented. No doubt about that.

this is a gear question
f anybody knows the specs I would like to know them ie....
Headroom
THD
dynamic range
DSP speed ???MHz
Signal to noise ratio
input/output impediance
Mic pre specs
how am I supposed to push my gear to the limit without knowing these specs
please move the question back to the gear page. im not complaining about any kind of "policy"
Im demanding that the information that audio engineers like myself would like to know
why was this post moved????

Re: this is a gear question
When you plug the speaker out from your 100 watt marshal into the mic pre and smoke comes out of the interface that's bad very bad.RCory wrote:When the little LED goes into red, that's bad.thashobs wrote:how am I supposed to push my gear to the limit without knowing these specs
Maybe.
Err you could email them for the total specs, maybe.
