There was a haiku thread a while back (lamenting M5v2's delay). Some of them were pretty clever.rcannonp wrote:I wonder if there is a tech support haiku archive somewhere. We should print some of them on T-shirts.
Why not have a haiku contest. Everyone votes on the winning haiku, and the winner gets a free shirt!

A great one for all the newbies over in the DP forum:

Call me old fashioned, but I'd be distressed to see the Unicorn go.
It's part of MOTU's heritage.
Obviously, I'd love a MOTU T-shirt, preferably one with the Unicorn logo front and back.
In fact, a black shirt with the UnicorNation logo, coloured in with the "community" photos James put together, would be quite striking, IMHO.

Unfortunately, I think it's already gone. However, The Unicorn still lives on the rack ears that come with items such as the MicroLite and UltraLite. I'm not sure about the other stuff.monkey man wrote:Call me old fashioned, but I'd be distressed to see the Unicorn go.

Just for the record, I really don't like unicorns, unless they're on MOTU gear. I have no idea why that is; it just is.

I missed that post the first time around. Well, I am pretty certain that this guy wouldn't be too impressed, and not just because Rick's a really nice bloke.Appalachian Boy wrote:totally what im thinkin.Spikey Horse wrote:I think a motu cape would be good, a big black one with motu in gold or something.
I mean what client wouldn't be totally impressed by an engineer/producer wearing a cape.
Seriously, I don't think you'll impress anyone worth impressing with bling or blinkenlights. Attitude, and knowing when to say "erm, why?" and when to make suggestions, and delivering a professional product without delays on your part, I think will impress more people.
At least I get suitably impressed when people both take an interest in what they're doing, what their customers are doing, and deliver quality.
And now, fellow Unicornationals, you're going to be subjected to a rant. My apologies in advance.
Most importantly, never lie to me, even by omission. If something's going to take a day extra or can't be done as initially planned, for dog's sake tell me as soon as you realise it! I've soon lost count of the people I'll never do business with again, whether it's printing out sheet music, shipping equipment, restoring from a DAT or ironing my shirt, because of their attitude towards telling the truth, even when it's bad news. I don't care as much about whose fault it is as I care about being played for a fool.
If you tell me, I can grumble a bit and then work with you to get things fixed. And come back, cause you worked with me. If you don't, I'll not only take my business elsewhere, but relate my bad experience to others too.
And to fellow musicians, if you can't play something well because your fingers aren't that fast or your brain isn't wired for it, or you need a lot more practice before feeling comfortable, please tell. Fellow musicians and producers don't expect everyone to be Paganini, and things can be worked out. Don't send a sample of the one time you managed something impressive out of fifty tries. It'll bite you below where the back changes name, and you waste people's time -- people who could work something out, if only they knew!
Anyhow, sorry about the rant! It's 5 am, and I have an injured shoulder keeping me up, so my apologies. It's all true, though.
