MX4 No Longer Suppoerted

Post by AsensoryMusic »

According to MOTU's site, the plugin will no longer be supported. That seems strange now that its included in DP. Or, maybe its not strange, as they don't necessarily support the other VIs in DP either. So that begs 2 questions:
1. What's coming out that will replace MX4?
2. When will they do a general overhaul of the VIs in DP, which as we know could use some improvement?

MX4 is now a plugin in DP 9. If you have DP 9, of course there's support as well as help files etc.the

The last update of it as a separate product was five years ago. If you never downloaded the 2.2.2 update, it's still available.

The last we heard about a possible 64bit update was in 2015—that happened as part of DP 9 but was never released as part of the old plugin. It does work with 32Lives last I heard.

Yes it does work with 32lives, but also requires a dongle. Its a disappointment to me that they discontinued support on the plugin while continuing to develop it in MAS or whatever to run only inside DP. They made it 64bit for DP9, there is no reason why they couldn't have released the VST/AU to 64bit also as its not dead software. They just kind of left us hanging though, those of us that bought it separately a long time ago. The dongle is annoying too. Well I guess they don't want anyone to use it outside of DP since its now a marketing point to sell DP, just like Logic includes a bunch of stuff that you can only run in logic. Oh well. for that reason I almost never use it. Too bad because its a very capable synth.

Says in your sig you have DP9 and it's included in that. I guess if you almost never use it, you almost never use DP9 also? I guess I'm confused.

I use logic a lot lately. Haven't given up on dp completely but I would not use it just for mx4.
