How is a DAW host and Slave interconnected for Film Scoring? I am trying to spec out a new system config with two Macs with MOTU 2408 H/W. Do I need additional controller H/W between systems?

A lot of people are connecting the slave via Ethernet lately, I've noticed. There are some threads hereabouts with folks discussing that.

I don't myself - I simply have two interfaces and run audio between them via either S/PDIF or even just analog lines, but I really do not use the other computer as a slave for sample libraries or anything like that. Plenty of help here available, though!

Look into VE Pro. Cheaper than a second interface; establishes an Ethernet connection thru which all audio and MIDI flows.

Try these two. They're a couple of years old now and nearly every version of the software, my host and slave computers and my sample libraries have either been replaced or updated. I've also cleaned up and updated my workflow quite a bit, but these two should give you a clear look at what you want. If you do go to my channel you can find the complete DP playlist.
