Multiple Videos For Live Playback

Post by wonder »

I thought I'd post in this forum since all of you guys work with DP and video.

A friend of mine who runs a Tribute band is looking to run their backing tracks from DP. (good idea).

He's got DP session going and using CHUNKS in the live show. 1 Chunk per song.

They're looking to add Video to their live show.

It's a U2 tribute band and they'd like to incorporate different videos for each song.

AFAIK, one cannot load a different video per chunk, right? Basically we get 1 video file per Project.

So, I suggested putting his show onto 1 constantly running video. But, of course, that means they're stuck to 1 show (same set list) and if 1 thing goes wrong with that video file ... your S.O.L.

How would you guys suggest we set this up?

They basically have a Macbook Pro at the drummers world and he triggers Play/Stop/NextSong from where he sits.

How would one be able to run a show from DP while synched to video?

You may require some external player like Video Slave to sync the show to the video.

There are other solutions that are similar.

You can absolutely use a different video for each chunk. I've been using this for live synced videos for about 8 years now. Amazing feature.

Of course, that is correct.

For some reason I got it stuck in my head that what the OP desired was multiple videos per chunk!

That's awesome. I'm also an avid user of Ableton Live, but my next performing set is primarily backing tracks with live guitar, and I was thinking visually it would be easier to work in DP with a linear timeline and separate Chunks. The thought occurred to me that DP might easily handle videos as well, good to know that's the case!
