I think I'm in over my head

Post by jbyerly1 »

I am mixing a med low budget film. I am asked
"I need to know what format and size quicktime file you need."

Can't seem to find that number any where in DP Help or manuel.

Is DP8 friendly with Quicktime 10.0

A question about saving files

Post by jbyerly1 »

These are the requested file formats

The film was shat at 23.98fps. We will have a 23.98 version as well as a 24fps version for DCP
Can you give me 2 versions of the 5.1 files one as is at 23.976 fps and one sped up to 24fps, a 0.1% speed increase.

My question is can I do a Save As after changing frame rates to 24fps to get a copy at 24fps

I really appreciate that this community is here for some one like my self who has been beating on the doors for years and finally get a shot and has questions

increasing speed- stereo vs full mix

Post by jbyerly1 »

After digging in to the manuel last night it all seems pretty straight forward. I need to increase project by 0.1%. select regions. designate ratios. apply

Does not really address which is the more reliable choice
Final stereo mix or Full mix within project

Is there a better program to do this type of editing

Help

DP does not let you type in 0.1% in the Scale Time.

Does any one know which ratio would give this to me. My Math sucks and internet search found zip

Am I correct that the in Scale time it would be:
1 to 1.001 to increase speed 0.1%

Reading this thread, I think you may need to read up on pull-up and pull-down in film. Search the web: there are several advanced articles that explain this. It's not just a matter of scaling time in DP. But why are they asking for both 24 and 23.98 versions? You should be working with a digital copy of the film that is the same format as the film editors are in their linear video editor app.

+1 I had this happen to me recently except the frame rates were 22 fps on version 1 and 24 fps for version 2. The editor thought if I just sped up the music all would be fine. NOT!

If the editor can't output the files, I won't even start to write a score or design sound. This is not a DP problem. It's a film editor "issue."
