I have the apple 32 inch cinema display but am shopping for a large flat panel to put up in the control room so the musicians can see how much I have to edit :)

I'd like to be able to blast DP onto the plasma. I'd also like to run video on the tv while I'm scoring small video stuff.

Any suggestions on the make and model of flat panels you guys use?

also, how would I go about hooking up said monitor? Will I need to buy a video card for my Mac?

I'm on a Mac Pro.

I've seen some really big ass Samsungs for $700, which is less than the Apple Cinema. I have the 27" and the quality is good. Very bright too, if you're watching from a distance.

I'm using a 42" high definition plasma panasonic that I bought from a doctor who used it for ultrasounds. I love it. I set it up to use as a dual screen so that I can drag my movie window into the panasonic. This is probably far from the best, but so far, so good.

If you have an available DVI port on your Mac, all you will should need is a DVI to HDMI adaptor cable, assuming your TV has HDMI, of course! DVI = HDMI - Audio

I'm ready to make a purchase.

I already have the apple 32inch plasma display but I'd like something to mount on the walls for bands to see the tracks and easier editing.

In my lounge I have an old hitachi 55inch director series (http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Hi ... oduct.html)
But wondering if I should/could even use that tv for proper resolution.

I COULD buy a smaller tv to replace that one In the lounge and use that 55inch as my monitor display or should I buy a newer tv and use that one as my monitor?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have hooked up my old g5 to my hitachi director series 55 inch plasma.

Problem: the resolution isn't great. I'm trying to figure out if it's the tv (I think it's 1080i) or if it's the g5 video card.

I have my macpro in my control room but it'd be too hard to lug this plasma in there just to "check the settings" and see if this tv will give me enough resolution to be able to work on it.

Is this tv just too old (circa 2005 I think) or is his g5's video card too old?

I've been switching back and forth from 1929x1080 interlaced on the g5 but they're both blurry. My aspect ratio on the tv is 16x9 standard.

Any pointers would be appreciated.
