M5 Stand-alone: Multiple MIDI Controllers Per Port?

Post by leigh »

I'm using an M-Audio Keyrig 49 controller with a stand-alone M5. I also have a Korg nanoKontrol2. I'm using the Keyrig for playing notes in an M5 part that uses an IRCAM Granular oscillator. I'd like to use the nanoKontrol knobs to control the oscillator parameters (Grain Size, etc.).

It looks like the stand-alone M5 only allows one MIDI controller per port.

Is there a way to use both controllers on the same port of a stand-alone M5 or do I need to use M5 as a plugin in DP to make it work?

I can use multiple controllers in both standalone and the VI of M5-3. My Kurz PC88 is going thru the Track 16 MIDI interface and my Roland PCR-800 is going thru USB. Maybe it has something to do with the way the MIDI comes in, but I'd try checking the routing in the Mac Audio/MIDI Setup app and seeing if you can route the MIDI signal that way to solve the issue.

Great suggestion which helped me find the solution!

Using MIDI Networking, I created two sessions, one for each controller routed to the same IAC bus, connected the sessions, had M5 use the IAC bus et voilà!

Look, Ma! No physical wires!

Thanks!
