M53 update: v3.2.1

Post by ahoutriet »

M53 3.2.1 update (Oct. 23, 2014) available at support and I just found it per accident. Is there a way to receive update messages?

cheers,
Anton

Despite the timestamp, they must have JUST posted that! Just two days ago I got UVI's CS-M 1.5, and when I opened it in MachFive, I got errors saying that the program was coded with a newer script engine. But when I checked MOTU's site at the time the most recent update they had was the version I already had installed. (3.2.0 I guess?)

Anyway, I figured we'd be seeing an update soon!

This is what my system reports. I will check and see if there is an update at the MOTU site.

It may be an updated installer only. For Macs, probably something to do with Yosemite.

Since Windows never, ever has installation issues, I have no idea why there would be a new installer–compatibility with Win95, perhaps?

The "new" file online looks identical to the installer from Dec 20, 2013. If you GET INFO on the "new" one you'll see the creation date as Dec 20, 2013. Perhaps something in their server screwed up and they replaced it, but it is NOT a new update.

Bummer!

Yeah, this is pretty weird. It looks like they just updated the timestamp on the site? I checked my DL history and 3.2.1 is the version I downloaded 2 days ago only to discover that it was already installed (from several months before).

It's the same version as before packed in a new installer, nothing has changed. The timestamp of the standalone app still says Octobre 2013 when you get info on it.

Yep, and CSM 1.5 is still throwing this error:

You may have to run CSM ON UVI's Workstation at least for now. I think UVI are forging ahead in development and are not waiting for MOTU to stay with them as who knows what MOTU are investing into the future software wise

CSM was just updated [in Oct 2014?] and this link states it is for UVI player and MachFive. Could it be that the CSM developer dropped the ball? M5-3 has been out for quite a while now. The last M5 update was Dec 2013 (regardless of what the MOTU website indicates) so it's not like M5 has changed, CSM has changed and they should have seen this in their testing and fixed it before releasing for M5.

If we must place blame, let's be sure we're directing it to the correct developer.

I mistakingly re-installed 3.2.1 thinking it was an update according to the date, and it has really messed up my system. Projects are crashing upon load that never used to crash. I wonder if it's now geared for Yosemite, as my buddy is able to load the same projects on his end that crash on my end. Our systems are identical, except he's on Yosemite and I'm on 10.9.5.

Many times.

Is there an order that I need to repair in? For example:

1. Boot computer
2. Repair Permissions
3. Reboot in Safe Mode (I read here that this was recommended)
4. Reboot as normal
5. Run DP

Does that look right?

No special order as long as they're repaired. You could re-apply the update as well. Check your audio & MIDI drivers!!! And if you update those you need to repair permissions again.

Perseverance usually pays off.

It's been a weekend of re-applying to no avail.

I did also apply the most recent driver for the Ultralite. Still getting crashes.

All I can think of is that something must be different about the "new" 3.2.1 update.
