loading a Kontakt .nki file into M53

Post by ahoutriet »

Hi,

When I try to load a Kontakt 4 program I get the error message "Couldn't load program". Is there a special trick to load a Kontakt .nki program?

I tried to open it just like an Machfive program. Maybe there is another way to do it? I can't find anything about it in the manual, it just says M53 can load .nki files.

cheers,
Anton

Nobody uses a Kontakt library in MachFive? It should be possible, right? :D

Not necessarily. All Ktk programs are not M5 compatible.

Thanks for the reply. Is there nothing from Kontakt that can be loaded into M53? I thought M53 could load Kontakt 1-4 files?

cheers,

It's hit and miss. M5 has a bigger CPU hit so I'd stay with the Kontakt player. Large and heavily scripted instruments should have their own players. This allows DP to use multi-threading and spread the load across cores. This is true of any VI players in DP - assuming you have a multi-core machine and Snow Leopard or better.

So to load a Kontakt .nki file is the same procedure as loading a M53 file? It's just trial and error if the Kontakt file will load?

If the Kontakt patch includes separate WAV files, try placing a copy of the NKI file into the same folder as the WAVs and import the NKI from there.
