Mach Five loses presets

Post by larryssp »

I know that there is a Mach Five Board but there seems to be more activity here.

Since upgrading to Mach Five 3.2 and downloading the sample files when I open a session Mach Five does not load the presets but says it can't find the missing files. Searching doesn't help. All my samples are in the same place, on an external drive.

If I discard all errors I can reselect and load the presets again but this is just a work around.
Anyone have an idea why this could be happening.

Thanks,

Larry

Most of the more "experienced" members here boycott misplaced messages. Yes, there's more activity here since the forum is DP centric, but AFAIK you'll only get a decent answer by posting in the correct section (unless someone decides to take the bait).

Fact is, your message will tend to get completely overlooked in this section because those who come here are looking for DP issues.

I suggest reposting in the correct space.

I have the same problem.

I put the new UFS banks in the same folder as the old ones, which I had put in a sub-folder called old M5 sounds. That's where it's broken, I'm sure.. but I only did that because I couldn't find any instructions on how to set it up, just the 9 downloads.

All my non-factory sounds come up fine, which is most of what I use in Mach V, so I'm only missing a couple minor instruments.

Tossed the prefs and it appears to have fixed the problem. So far so good.

Well it happened again. I restarted DP and the presets loaded. So it's something when DP is open for a bit - go and open another session and it can't find the presets.
I don't know.

Did you install as User or Administrator?

In any case, I think that you may have to open a Tech Link with Support.

If you haven't gotten your problem fixed, I have the solution. Took me 3 calls to tech support. About once a month for no reason, mach five would loose my sounds. Then it stopped letting me drag the folder into the "places" finer in mach five. Still don't know why that is. However, last friday a tech helped me fix it, even though he really didn't know why it was happening.

1. You have to download the "new" UFS files! Required o the latest mach five
2. With MachFive open, click on the wrench, then preferences, then sound banks. Then add the folder(s) with your sounds (usf, akai, whatever). Note, to add, you click on the the dots ... to the right of the "choose sound bank folder" option.
3. Quit Mach Five and relaunch.

Now all UFS sound banks load even if you aren't using them. For me, once I did this, mach five found all the sounds on it's own and I didn't have to one by one reload them.

Hope this helps someone as it did me.
