Postby Sampleconstruct » Sat Nov 16, 2013 6:22 am

I just released my first sound library for MachFive 3:

Scattered Entity Vol. 1 is the first library in a series of releases for MOTU's MachFive 3. Over time an entire universe of sounds for this extremely versatile electronic instrument will be created, combining the beauty and natural expression of acoustic instruments with the unlimited possibilities of state-of-the-art sound design.

Specifications and content:

    4.38 GB of samples (wav/stereo/48 Khz/24 Bit).
121 patches/instruments + 8 variations, combining all synthesis methods available in MachFive.

Multisampled instruments, pure and and combined with electronics
    Evolving pads
    Vocal texures
    Experimental and abstract textures
Cinematic and ominous soundscapes and drones
    Complex sequencers
    Processed field recordings
Orchestral sounds derived from orchestral recordings of my own music

Sampled Instruments:

Celtic harp with 27 strings - multisampled with several velocity layers and round robin, harp glissandi, bisbigliando and more
    Timpani
    Waterphone
other string instruments (violin, piano, cello)
    Woodwinds (sax/duduk)
Chromatic and achromatic percussion (Thai gongs, Tamtam, bowed and beaten vibraphone, tibetan singing bowls, Glockenspiel)

20 patches have custom scripting for extended sound manipulation features and a user interface, all non-scripted patches have the Modwheel and the 8 Macros assigned in the info tab, many also use Aftertouch.

Scripting by Iain Morland.

All acoustic instrument-samples in this library were recorded with 3 Neumann microphones in L-C-R at 48 Khz/24 Bit, a U87 as the center mic - a stereo set of KM 184 for L-R. The field recoordings were made with a pair of Sennheiser shotguns inside a windshield cage, mounted on a boom recorded onto a Tascam HD-P2 recorder.

Patch categories:

    Celtic Harp - 13 + 1 variation
    Mallets - 5 + 2 variations
    Orchestral - 3
    Pads - 11 + 1 variation
    Percussion - 8 + 2 variations
    Sequencer - 8
    Soundscapes - 17 + 2 variations
    Strings - 4
    Synths - 12
    Timpani - 10
    Voices - 7
    Waterphone - 19
    Woodwinds - 4

You can view/download the PDF for this library with more details, the licence agreement, and the patchlist here

Delivery: download - RAR-archive in 5 parts for better download handling - download size: 2.68 GB - fast download speeds guaranteed.

Please note: this library requires the full version of MachFive 3 (version 3.2 and higher), it will not work with the UVI workstation.

Price (paypal): € 79 Euro.

All demos below were produced entirely with MachFive 3 using only patches from Scattered Entity Vol. 1, no post-processing was applied apart from a limiter on the outputs and some volume automation, if several instances of MachFive were used in a track. If a demo does use 3rd party reverb, this is mentioned in the track title.

Holee crap, just played around with a few patches. Had high hopes for this library because of the demos released over the past few weeks and, well, it's Simon, so I knew this was going to be good. (Have you heard his Alchemy and Iris patches…?) But this is even better than I thought.

Part of me wants to keep this my little secret, but then again, I want Simon to become fat and rich so he keeps making new stuff at this level to become ever fatter and richer, so I'm going to scream this from the rooftops:

Get this library. And if you don't have MachFive 3, well, get that, too. This is sooo good. And SOOO musical. Great realtime control. Easy to customize and make your own. *FUN* to play, like every good instrument should be.

Besides being an extremely nice and accessible developer Simon happens to be probably the most talented sound designer I've ever encountered!
I guess there's a reason his last name is Stockhausen ;-)

LOL - fat and rich. I'm going to the gym 4 times a week to compensate for the 12 hours a day studio work. Sound designing won't make me rich but there are also other things to do and as long as I can go own composing music and producing libraries, feeding the family and maintaining the studio, that's all I need.

Thank's for the flowers, Kubi!

Thank's, Kenny - If my dad was still alive, he would very much enjoy the current state of music technology. Although he never really made the switch to digital music production, I could show him so much these days....

I just bought MachFive 3 and elaborate a script or macro input seems more easy as with KONTAKT ?
MacPro 5.1_ 2 X 3,06 GHz under 10.12.3. with D.P. 9.12 & Kontakt 5.6 _ Fireface800 X 2 _ Universal UAD-2 Quad & Duo _ FilterBank2 Sherman & Gibson Explorer Pro _ MIDI Express XT _ Virus C Desktop _ Adrenalinn III & Voyager Moog _ SpeakerPhone 2 _ PolyEvolver Keyboard _ Tempest _

Well, Kontakt doesn't have any Macros, just assignable MIDI Controllers and of course scripting. The scripting in M5 is more versatile and easier to do, my scripter Iain Morland says, as my own scripting skills are still too limited to judge on that.

Yes, macros, it's pretty easy but writing a script with real insertion of an image may be as difficult with KONTAKT ?

Yes, if scripting is new to you, it's "as difficult" as with Kontakt. The good thing about the Macros is, that you can assign numerous parameters to a single Macro, and they work either in absolute or in relative mode.
