My 2007 Xeon Mac Pro has 12 GB of RAM with the M5 library on a separate 7200 rpm HD.
Just curious, what would folks set for the Pre-load time? And the Ring Buffer Size?
1017 ms and XL-1MBytes? Or something else?

Re: ? re: Streaming Preference
In a 64-bit DAW with one instance of M5v3 with 5 parts (Star drums, JBass, Mark79, universal organ and horns):
- the default Streaming preferences (preload time and ring buffer size) combined with a high DAW I/O buffer (512 or 1024) results in low cpu stress, with the OSX activity monitor indicating about 3.46 GB of memory used. Poor for tracking.
- Streaming preferences set to their maximum values plus a high I/O buffer results in low cpu stress but about 6.7 GB of memory used. Poor for tracking.
- the default preferences plus an I/O of 256 yields reasonable performance for tracking.
Maybe using Plogue Bidule or similar changes the picture but I can't speak to that. I tried getting Soundflower to work but the timing was off.
I'd still like to hear what other users are finding.
