MacBook Pro Loses Track of Interface when Sleeping
Hey folks,
Here's what is happening to me: I have two interfaces that I switch between: an Apogee Symphony I/O (my goto) and a Focusrite Sapphire. When my MacBook Pro (late 2011, running El Cap) goes to sleep and then wakes up. It won't work for whichever interface it's using, most but not all of the time.
The interface is on, the MacBook Pro can see it. The Configure Hardware Driver shows the interface is active, and the Sound settings in the Mac shows the interface is active, but no dice. My only surefire cure is to Restart the Mac.
My questions are:
1) Is there a way I can prevent this from happening when the device wakes from sleep?
2) When it does happen, is there a simpler fix than Restarting the Mac?
Thanks in advance,
-Todzilla

Re: MacBook Pro Loses Track of Interface when Sleeping
I NEVER sleep my machines. N-E-V-E-R-!
That's my solution. I've been doing it for years and it works. I do shut down if i'm not going to be working for extended periods (a couple of hours or more) but NEVER sleep.
Did I mention NEVER SLEEP?
(I thought so)

As MLC said, for years, it's been a common practice (and sense) to not let a daw setup go to sleep.
Only boot and shut down completely.
More on that subject:
Keep an eye on menumeters memory display (a free app).
Whenever available memory goes short, then close the daw app and relaunch.
Of course, same applies on non-daw apps.

Yikes!
Thanks!
My DAW is my multi-purpose MBP, so the sleep feature helps for non-DAW purposes. I will experiment with sleeplessness (insomnia?) when the device is plugged in to charger.
