Apple Cinema display connector cable

A friend is selling a 24" apple cinema display for cheap, but the 3 part cable that is used to connect the monitor to the computer is broken and needs to be replaced. (the power supply is fine). A question for you mac experts: is this an expensive fix ? something I can do myself ? I just want to be sure its possible and not too overly expensive before comitting to buy. thank you !!
