Re: Cook's Commitment to the Mac
I would just point out that the iMac is a desktop.
What we need is commitment specifically to a pro level machine.
Bloomberg Tech claims that the roadmap only includes modest CPU, I/O, and video upgrades to existing iMacs. IF that is true, Cook is being somewhat disingenuous in my opinion...or he is clueless about what people mean when they express their concerns.

Re: Cook's Commitment to the Mac
The commitment doesn't appear to go much further than an updated iMac.

Re: Cook's Commitment to the Mac
And the slop I've seen in the last 4 major OS releases doesn't inspire much confidence, either.
Apple's idea of solid OS releases is to leave all the bugs intact and then force me to choose to stay in one buggy OS or upgrade and trade in for new bugs (and even the old ones can linger)-- I don't doubt there are problems in every OS on every platform. But my patience is non-linear.

It certainly doesn't. I'd rather Apple spun off Macintosh as a self sustaining sub that produces a solid OS you pay for, than leaving it as a poor cousin to the iOS business strategy.stubbsonic wrote:And the slop I've seen in the last 4 major OS releases doesn't inspire much confidence, either.

Further affirming the wisdom of MOTU to port DP to Windows. As I've said before... if they ever get it solid and reliable enough on that platform, I could see myself potentially jumping ship.HCMarkus wrote:...and license HP or Dell to produce Mac-Compatible workstations! Re: Cook's Commitment to the Mac
True... but it's always good to consider all the options.

Re: Cook's Commitment to the Mac
Well if you're going to consider ALL the options, there's also Linux... but I feel like its hay day was in the mid 2000's, even though there has been forward movement of audio support and pro-level DAW in recent years.
